Leaving our home of three years was difficult, emotionally and physically.
I knew that Ken's job didn't have much of a future for him anymore, so I knew we had to move on. But with a relocation I also had to leave behind friends. Really good friends, who supported me in really hard times. Friends that involved me in their lives and were part of mine. My heart aches for them!
But I put my big girl pants on, delayed my feelings and got down to business.
The best part of moving was having someone come pack all of our stuff while I entertained the kids. It was a dream! I was a stress-ball as it was and I cannot imagine having to pack all of the things that our house could hold with three small children in tow. It was strange half camping in our house while we were halfway through everything. The kids were phenomenal about everything.
On Thursday, the truck drove away with all of our things. We stayed with our awesome realtor that night and the girls and I flew to California early, early the next morning. Ken and Jared stayed Friday and finished up work and school and started driving to California on Saturday.
I don't have any pictures of flying with the Norah and Rosie. It was a little bit terrible. We were all exhausted and had three flights. Our third flight from San Francisco to Santa Barbara was canceled and took forever to rebook. Rosie was throwing tantrums and Norah was out of her mind sick of being held. But they both fell asleep on me while I was sitting on the floor in front of a flight board waiting for information about a possible flight. My legs went numb almost immediately. But a few miracles later, we were able to get to Ken's parent's home just after dark. (Not around lunchtime like scheduled, but whatever.)
Ken and Jared drove our one surviving car across the country. They took a more northerly route than the one I recommended (*cough cough*) but only got stuck in one snowstorm! So four days of what Jared described as "half pretty good and half pretty bad," they arrived in California. Fast food with toys, hiking at rest stops, excellent gas prices, one vomiting incident and lots of singing for a little boy to remember!

Boo. Hiss.
But I'm glad for you guys and the better job and everything. I just wish the stars had been aligned for us to be neighbors forever! (clearly I broke that system first...)
