We tried to find a house before we moved here, but all the houses we came and saw in November were snatched away before we got an offer on our house in Indiana.
And once we got here, we spent a lot of time with our realtor driving around all the county. But Ken and I couldn't find anything that checked all the boxes. Everything was either too small, too far, too much of a project or too retirement community-y.
So we decided to build!
We thought about buying a couple of houses that were close to being completed, but neither had quite enough pros to outweigh some of the cons.
So after waaaaaaaaaay too much time researching building companies and house plans, we finally agreed to move ahead!!!
So our time in the temporary company-provided apartment was ending so we moved into an apartment in the same complex for the rest of the building period. And we finally got our stuff back!!! Sometimes, I convince myself that I'm not materialistic, but I do like my stuff!
It took a while for all the building permits to go through, but this sign on our lot kept our thirst for progress satiated for a while.
Recently, we got to do the fun part of picking all the fun things for the inside: hardwood, laminate, formica, quartz, light fixtures, cabinets, carpet. This is what my table looks like because this week I've been picking out interior and exterior paint colors. There are a lot of different whites and it feels like a very weighty decision to choose between them.

Cool!!! Excited to see pictures of your home as it is being built!!
That's so much fun to pick out all of your finishes!
Absolutely awesome!!!! I can't wait to see more, please add lots of pics along the way! As for the whites, definitely ask your builder for their normal shades they use (theyre tried & true). DONT risk it on your own, or it'll end up looking blue or pink or too yellow... it's ridiculous. Good luck!!
