June Updates

It's been a while since we have uploaded any pictures from our camera, so Ken and I thought we ought to update the blog before the month was over. On father's day this month, Ken requested a fancy dinner. So I cooked the best I could and made a downsized traditional Kindt family Sunday dinner. It was really fun and the gravy actually thickened this time!

Last Sunday, we finally got together with some of our freshman year friends. Jacob was Ken's roommate and Clarissa was my neighbor and Ken's FHE sister. And despite these close relations, Ken hadn't seen their three month old baby girl yet. It was really wonderful to play games and talk with them after so long.

But the big exciting update for today is our fun CAMPING TRIP. Our ward planned a camping trip down in the Unita National forest. It was close, beautiful, and perfect for getting to know the other ward members better.
We drove down with the Hepworths.

It was so fun to get out of Provo and take a mini-vacation even if it was just for a night.

Today, Ken and I went to the start of the freedom festival at the Marriott Center. It featured a local rabbi, Stephen R. Covey, Michael Ballam, and Glenn Beck. The evening was very patriotic and was centered on what they called the core American values: family, freedom, God and country. Afterwards, we tried to get to the floor to meet some of the people there, but by the time we got down from our spot (where we had our first date and where Ken proposed) all the famous people were gone. It's understandable as the Marriott was filled!

Triple date

So Friday evening, Ken and I went on a triple date with my counselors and their husbands. First we went to the Fair at Helaman Halls where they were serving free cotton candy and popcorn. There were a few contests and Ken entered into the Best Cougar Roar contest. I've included the video, so you can enjoy the moment as much as I did.

The true highlight of the show was the animal show they had. The had snakes and skinks and hedgehogs and lizards. It was pretty fun to see them all. After a bit we decided to go back to our apartment and eat. We had homemade ice cream, pizza and lime rickies. It was really fun to cook together and play some games.

Tuna melt

I cooked today. After receiving a promising recipe from a friend, I finally tried it out when I got all the ingredients: wheat bread, tuna, olive oil, rosemary and asiago cheese. It doesn't look like much, but it was a delicious change to the normal tuna with mayo and pickles. Ken thought it was a little dry, so maybe I'll add a little mayo next time.

Blog it!

Yes, Ken and I have recently started a blog. Since most of our family members don't have facebook, we decided that this is probably the best way for us to let you know what we're up to. Currently what we are up to is that Ken is at school and I am avoiding homework! No pictures necessary for that scenario. We do hope to update this at least semi-regularly, but we'll see how that goes.
We're most excited this weekend for Ben and Yanghee's visit. They are coming down tomorrow to have some fun. It's going to be great to have them here!
