Poetry

I like poems. They make me happy and I love the educated feeling I have when I read it. I recently got a new book of poetry (thanks Marcy) and I've found that I love rhyming. I find it frustrating when poems don't rhyme. I know I'm not a conniseur or anything. I just have decided that you can't just put things together in shorter lines and call it a poem.
Here's the first two sentences of this post in poetry form:

I like poems.
They make me
happy and I love
the educated feeling I have
when I read it.

Lame!
Some poetry are definitely just prose playing pretend.

I absolutely love short, very rhyme-y, funny poems. Here is the first poem in the book. It opens the section called Beginnings.

Time to Rise
A birdie with a yellow bill
Hopped upon the window sill
Cocked his shining eye and said:
"Ain't you shamed, you sleepy head?"
-Robert Louis Stevenson

Awesome.
Maybe over the course of the summer, I'll put up more poems that I like as I find them!
