Changed my life for a day
So yesterday started off pretty rough in our home. Ken left before the rest of us were up and going. Jared was demanding and literally right in my face more than I could handle. Rosie was inconsolably crying for a half hour and I put her down for her first nap at 8:30am. This made me grouchy and in turn did not help anything else.
We needed a reset for our day. So, I changed my attitude and here is a list of things that made my day awesome for the remaining hours:
We needed a reset for our day. So, I changed my attitude and here is a list of things that made my day awesome for the remaining hours:
- Reading books with Jared- he gets the giggles reading some silly books
- Made cookies- my Aunt Laurie's recipe
- Ate a lot of cookie dough (it makes Ken uncomfortable, so we have a truce that I don't eat it while I'm pregnant)
- Made pinterest recipes for dinner- Pizza balls and Watermelon lemonade (or Watermelonade, as we have decided)
- Jared played in the hollowed out watermelon half for a looooong time. It was sticky and adorable.
- Got the kitchen cleaned up after all the baking!
- Jared put clothespins all over the front of his shirt to be a porcupine
- Ken came home a little early
- We bought a new car! It is a Camry (my favorite) and has everything I wanted- LATCH system, the lock/unlock remote, cruise control and is wide enough for three carseats when that time comes. Pictures are forthcoming!
- Rosie has started to try elephant sounds
- We went to a party and I got to see people I really like
- I'm getting to the end of my book (Lord of the Ring: Fellowship of the Ring- so it turns out that I am more of a scifi/fantasy nerd than I thought)
- It was a cool and windy night last night. We most definitely slept with the windows open.

Puzzles
Jared received some puzzles for his birthday. Although age 3 was the recommended age, I was doubtful that his fine motor and spacial reasoning skills were going to cut it. However, I did highly underestimate his determination. He had me sit with him and figure it out over and over again for two days straight probably a dozen times until had memorized the dinosaur pictures and discovered how it all worked.
Now Jared is a certified independent puzzler!

Suzy Homemaker
Baby bowties
Dyed the crib sheets from blue to purple (Note: do not try to use tulip dyes, only RIT!) and made a crib skirt to hide everything under the crib
Mobile for Rosie
Painted the back of this bookcase
Painted and stenciled a chair found on a curb! The back is had to be repainted and re-stenciled because of some poor technique.
Fixed Jared's hole-y jeans to look like a monster. I wish it looked a tad less scary.
I also modified an A-line skirt into a pencil skirt and and assembled a quilt top for my unborn niece. Hurray for a little creativity!

Play with Your Father
Ken has had to be gone a bit lately. A bit too much for my comfort. Who is going to bring me snacks and rub my feet??? But nothing can be done about that!
So now, the kiddos are extra enthused when he is home. It just warms the cockles of my heart!

Whatcha Doin' There?
Rosie went through a stage where she crawled backwards and, therefore, ended up under a lot of things. Luckily for her, Jared likes to join in!
