NEW PANTRY

This sight brings me such great joy everyday.

I didn't have the foresight to take a picture before I started to rip down the wire shelf (not secured to the studs in one place) that didn't provide nearly enough space. Now that I've installed these shelves with much diligent help from Ruth, I've filled it up with things I've been storing other places and the whole first floor feels more organized.
Now, I feel like I have a real pantry- as much as you can have one shared with a laundry room. The first step in spring cleaning!

(Also, each of those shelves can hold 500lbs, which is necessary because, well, children)

Seven Wonderful Years

Today is our seventh anniversary! I'm so glad that I married this handsome, particular, silly, patient man.

Major life events in those years:

2007- Married went straight back to school for the summer term. We lived in our first two apartments, one for only a month.
2008- Our car was totaled and we kept driving it. We also moved to a larger apartment in Wymount in preparation for the Jared boy.
2009- I graduated, Ken got a fancy internship and Jared was born.
2010- Ken hiked Mount Timpanogas and graduated at the end of the year.
2011- Our car was hit by a deer, and Ken franken-repaired it. Then in quick succession, Rosie was born in Wisconsin, Ken defended his thesis and we moved to Indiana to start a new job.
2012- I ran a half marathon. We finally traded in our old Mazda for a Camry. We went to our first Notre Dame football game.
2013- We bought a house and a second car and did little else because we spent all our money.
2014- So far, we've got a beloved renter and are awaiting another daughter. And we are trying to keep Ken in the country as often as we can.

Rainbow Bread

 This is such a fun treat and the kids love it!

You start with any white bread recipe ( I just used Betty Crocker's) and divide it into equal parts and knead in whatever dyes you would like. We've done orange and purple for Halloween!

Divide each color in half and roll it out into uniform sizes. Then stack and roll it out again. Finally roll it up into loaf shapes and let rise.

Bake and ta-da! This picture's color is true to life and our sandwiches have never been more interesting.

Easter Morning

Happy Easter to everyone!

Lesson on Lying

We've had a bit of an issue for a while with consistent truth telling. So we had a lesson on lying that included vanilla pudding and a good amount of salt.
Basically, the message is that lying is like pouring salt on a good thing. It ruins it. And you can fix it until you repent, or wash the bowl.

I love the disgusted look on his face!

We hope they won't forget this anytime soon!
